Water-Cooled AO-FS Q-Switch 

The AO Q-FS-27-3 and the AOQ-FS-40-4 are water-cooled acousto-optic Q-switches mainly used in Nd:YAG laser system. An RF input at the working frequency of the unit sets up an acoustic wave phase grating in the optical medium. This phase grating deflects the beam at a sufficiently high angle to prevent lasing when the modulator is placed within the resonant cavity of a laser.   

Application:

Fused quartz of very high quality and low reflection coatings are used for high transmission. This allows for a very low cavity insertion loss in th off state as well as ensuring a high damage threshold.
